  • Aero-SME committee

  • Aero-SME committee

SMEs belonging to Gifas, the French aerospace industry association, work hand-in-hand with prime contractors on all aerospace programmes. They offer their customers a vast range of products and services, from the smallest detail components to fully-integrated assemblies and subassemblies.

French aerospace SMEs improve the industry's competitive edge through their proven capacity to innovate and specialized technological skills. They respond quickly and flexibly to customer needs, thanks largely to smaller management structures and work to the leading French and international quality assurance requirements (ISO, AQAP, FAR, JAR).

In addition to being internationally represented through their contributions to major programmes, many now export increasingly under their own names.

Set up within GIFAS (French Aerospace Industries Association) in June 1996, the AERO-PME Committee was established to enhance SME performances. It brings together only GIFAS member SMEs that are independent of major industrial groups.

As the only committee representing SMEs in the aerospace industry, its aim is to:

act as an information relay for the industry by encouraging dialogue between members and sharing individual experiences between companies.

make proposals drawing out trends and the major concerns of its members in order to set up working groups responsible for dealing with problems such as: capital development, passing on the enterprise, surface treatments and the environment, reverse auctions, managing counter-trade markets etc.

to promote its members' technological capabilities and competitive advantages to French and foreign principal contractors.

to defend the interests of its members and handle relations with official and industrial bodies, both nationally and internationally

serve the profession by organising joint participation in international shows, by keeping its members informed about export market opportunities by helping them to find finance for R&D.
